Shaman King Anime Summary
They get off to a rocky start when Yoh completely blanks Manta at school, but when Manta gets beat up by a gang whilst trying to prove to everyone the ghosts he saw were real Yoh decides to pay the gang a visit and drags Manta kicking and screaming with him. In the fight that ensues Yoh uses strange powers to merge with the ghost of a Samurai (named Amidamaru) who only he and Manta appear to be able to see. After Yoh whoops holy ass, he and Manta become friends as Manta now knows Yoh's secret; He's a 'Shaman' (one who connects this world with the next) and he's searching for a powerful ghost to become his main spirit, because the Shaman fight is approaching; a once in 500 year battle between shamans to decide the Shaman King who can merge with the Great Spirit of all living things. Manta and numerous others join Yoh in his quest to become the Shaman King and to stop the mysterious Hao (an evil shaman) from attaining the Great Spirit instead! This series seriously rocks!!! The dub sucks though. Fair warning.

the way home from cram school Manta detours through a cemetery and comes
across a strange boy (Yoh) sat looking at the stars. The boy asks him if he
wants to join them and suddenly the area where he's sat is teaming with
ghosts.
