Ai Yori Aoshi Anime Summary
Ai Yori Aoshi is a love story based around two main characters; Aoi and Kaoru. Both brought up by rich powerful families they were promised in marriage to each other when they were little, but had not seen each other since. The story starts out by following Aoi's journey into the midst of Tokyo, as she has been told that the marriage will no longer take place and wants to find Kaoru, as she has been training to be his wife her whole life and cannot imagine any other husband. Purely by chance they meet in the train station where Kaoru helps Aoi when she is hopelessly lost. They don't at first recognise each other and only later discover the others identity. Kaoru is shocked when Aoi says she is there to marry him, as he barely remembers the promise between the two families. But of course no guy could say no to Aoi's cuteness for long and he soon finds himself depending on her love. Unfortunately Miyabi-san (Aoi's mentor) turns up out of the blue and condemns Kaoru for leaving his family. She doesn't think he deserves Aoi's love and it's only by Aoi's steadfastness and her mother's reluctant permission that results in them eventually being allowed to live together, though to prevent a scandal in the business world they have to appear to be only tenant and landlady... I loved the first few eps of this series, as Aoi's devotion is very touching and Kaoru is a regular nice guy as well! One thing that I did find annoying about the series was the supporting characters who seem to be there only to distract you from the real story as they add next to nothing to the storyline.
