Stellvia Anime Summary
Stellvia of the Universe, or Uchuu no Stellvia is a cute series, which has a bit of everything; humour (with all the mistakes Shipon makes), romance (when she develops a relationship with fellow student Otoyama Kouta) and action in the form of mecha fights and piloting missions. Hope you try it. It's bloody good!

Shima flies out to become a student of Stellvia space station where
preparations are being made to protect against the Second Wave, a meteor
shower headed on a course for Earth spotted more than 189 years ago after
the First Wave (from a nearby star going supernova) devastated the Earth.
Shima (also nicknamed Shipon in the anime) suffers the same setbacks as
ordinary students. She has a talent for programming which can surpass the
knowledge of even her teachers, but loses control of her bianca
(spacecraft) on her very first flying lesson, at first being absolutely
dismal at piloting due to her preoccupation with the programming side.
Eventually she starts to master the piloting much to the surprise of just
about everyone and she incites the jealousy of not only some of her fellow
first-years, but the older students also. Particularly Ayaka Machida a
member of the 'Big Four' (four of the most talented student pilots).
