Hanabishi Recca practises ninja techniques daily and is undefeated by his friends and rivals Ishijima Domon and Kirisawa Fuuko who constantly attempt to beat him as he has said he will be their loyal ninja if they can best him.

Unexpectedly Recca falls head over heels for a quiet girl from his school, named Yanagi, who has strange healing powers, which he discovers when he is injured saving her from a construction accident. Their meeting sparks a chain of events, whereby he declares Yanagi his 'Hime' (princess) and gives her his loyalty as a ninja (much to Fuuko's wrath!!) and draws the attention of a mysterious woman named Kage Houshi, who forces Recca to draw upon his own hidden powers, by attacking Yanagi.

He manages to drive the woman away, but she soon returns, targeting each of his friends who also discover innate powers. Their new-found abilities are then put to good use when Yanagi is kidnapped on the order of an evil money lord called Kouran, who (obsessed by the desire for eternal youth) thinks Yanagi's healing powers are the answer to his ambitions. They set off to rescue her from the mansion of Kouran's adoptive son Kurei who wields a power similar to Recca's and also has strong ties to the way of the ninja...

I'm trying not to give too much of the plot away (not very successfully)!! This is a good anime, with lots of action. The ending is left slightly open, possibly for a sequel, but no sequel has materialised as yet!!!
